PROVIDER UPDATES COVID-19 telemedicine and telehealth services As we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic, El Paso Health (EPH) promotes the continuity of care during the pandemic response. Providers should continue to use modifier 95 and Place of Ser vice (POS) 02 when rendering telemedicine and telehealth. EPH Providers can render telemedicine and telehealth ser vices for cer tain medical and behavioral ser vices to ensure the continuity of care to our members. Non-emergency medical transportation E ffective June 1, 2021, El Paso Health began providing all Non- Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services for all our Medicaid members. What are NEMT services? NEMT services provide transportation to non-emergency health-care appointments for Medicaid members who have no other transportation options. These trips include rides to the doctor, dentist, hospital, pharmacy, and other places you get Medicaid services. What type of services are part of NEMT services? ■ Passes or tickets for mass transit, such as bus or train tickets. ■ Commercial airline transportation services. ■ Demand response transportation services, which is curb-to-curb transportation in private buses, vans, or sedans (Uber or Lyft), including wheelchair-accessible vans, if necessary. ■ Mileage reimbursement for an individual transportation participant (ITP) to a covered health-care service. The ITP can be the member, a responsible party, a family member, a friend, or a neighbor. ■ Meals: If the member is 20 years old or younger, they may be able to receive the cost of meals associated with a long-distance trip to obtain health-care services. The daily rate for meals is $25 per day, per person. ■ Lodging: If the member is 20 years old or younger, they may be able to receive the cost of lodging associated with a long-distance trip to obtain health-care services. Lodging services are limited to the overnight stay and do not include any amenities used during their stay, such as phone calls, room service, or laundry service. ■ Advance funds: If the member is 20 years old or younger, they may be able to receive funds in advance of a trip to cover authorized NEMT services. ■ If the member needs an attendant to travel with them to their appointment, NEMT services will cover the transportation costs of the attendant. ■ Children 14 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult. Children 15 to 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult or have consent from a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult on file to travel alone. How to get a ride ■ If the member lives in the county of El Paso or Hudspeth, they can call Access2Care at 1-844-572-8196 to schedule a ride or to check the status of their ride. ■ Access2Care is available to schedule their ride 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. ■ Members are to call Access2Care to schedule their ride at least 2 days (48 hours) before their appointment. ■ Members are to call Access2Care to schedule their trip at least 5 days before their appointment when traveling long distance or out of town. *CHIP and CHIP Perinate members may qualify for transportation to doctor visits or health education classes as part of our value-added services, “Healthy Rewards.” Call our Member Services Department at 915-532-3778 or toll-free at 1-877- 532‑3778 for more information. stay informed 2
